Offline voice typing lets you record and transcribe messages on your device without an internet connection. It's useful in places with poor reception.
Turn on offline voice typing
- Open Settings: in the sidebar, select your name at the bottom, then choose Profile & Language.
- Scroll to the Chat section and find Offline voice typing.
- Select Download.
The download is about 70 MB, so use Wi-Fi if you can. It's saved on this device only. Each phone or computer needs its own download.
How does it work?
Once it's downloaded, select the microphone as usual. If you're offline, your speech is transcribed on your device. Sending a message still needs a connection, so TachlisAI holds it until you're back online. See Messages or uploads won't send.
Offline voice typing works across languages, but accuracy varies by language and device. Always review the text before you send it.
Remove the download
To free up space, go back to Offline voice typing in Settings and select Remove download.
